Case Update

A group of Erie and Cattaraugus County, New York landowners have filed their inverse condemnation claims against the federal government. These landowners are seeking compensation for the taking of their property. The government has admitted its liability for taking more than thirty properties and agreed to pay these landowners just compensation. The parties have selected a joint appraiser – Anthony P. Girasole – who is currently preparing appraisal reports to value the government’s taking. The parties expect to have Girasole’s reports by June. The landowners should be paid their just compensation by year’s end.
